Vortex flow meters Irvis-K-300, etc.
Scope of application
Irvis-K-300 consists of a Primary Converter (PP) and a Power Supply and Spark Protection (BIP).
The flow sensor consists of a flow body (vortex generator) and a vortex detector (sensor element thermistor). The flow body, made of wear-resistant stainless steel, has an experimentally optimized cross-sectional shape and provides stable generation of vortices when the gas flow flows over a wide range of flow rates. The design of the flow body implements a hydrodynamic self-cleaning mechanism of the working edges, which ensures the maintenance of stable metrological characteristics in case of severe contamination of the working environment. The sensor element of the vortex detector is removed from the gas flow, installed inside the flow body in a transverse opening — the flow channel.
Each released copy of Irvis-K-300 undergoes direct calibration on a calibration unit in the entire range of operating costs by comparison with a reference set of critical nozzles.
Irvis-K-300 flowmeters are designed to measure the volume flow of gases under operating conditions and form frequency, current and digital (RS-485) output signals proportional to the flow rate, as part of the commercial and technological accounting units in utility and industrial enterprises (commercial, boiler, aggregate accounting, etc.) when measuring the volume of combustible (natural, associated petroleum) and inert (air, nitrogen, etc.) gases.
The main advantages
- High measurement accuracy
- High reliability
- Simplicity and convenience in operation
- Insensitive to industrial vibrations
- No moving parts subject to wear, easy installation
- Stability of metrological characteristics
Principle of operation and design
The principle of operation of the Irvis-K-300 flowmeter is based on measuring the frequency of formation of vortices that occur in the gas flow when flowing around a stationary body.
Irvis-K-300 consists of a Primary Converter (PP) and a Power Supply and Spark Protection (BIP).
The PP uses a flow sensor of the original design of NPP Irvis, protected by a patent of the Russian Federation.

- Explosion protection intrinsically safe circuit conforming to the marking 1ExibIIBT4
- The communication line between the PP and the BIP is not more than 300 m
- Power consumption not more than 7 watts
- Connection of PP with pipeline type "sandwich"
- Average service life of at least 15 years
High precision and quality
The use of a frequency vortex signal, a signal processing microprocessor and individual calibration of flow meters on an exemplary flow meter installation ensure high accuracy and noise immunity in the most difficult application conditions. High accuracy is maintained throughout the entire range of flow measurements, and the frequency vortex signal ensures long-term stability of readings and the absence of zero drift.
Transmission and presentation of information
- Irvis-K-300 generates the following output signals proportional to the flow rate:
- Frequency (1...10OO Hz, a different frequency range is specified when ordering) in the basic configuration of the device;
- Current (4...20 mA). This option is specified when ordering;
- Standard RS-485 digital interface. The MODBUS exchange protocol. This option is specified when ordering.
- IRVIS-K-300 provides information about the current flow rate in m3/hour under operating conditions, and the accumulated volume of gas in m3 on the LCD display located in the BIP housing. This option is specified when ordering.

About IRVIS
The company IRVIS was founded in 1990 on the basis of the Department of Special Engines of the Faculty of DLA of the KSTU named after A. N. Tupolev (KAI). The main activity of the company is the development and production of gas metering devices.
-
DEVELOPMENT OF METERING DEVICES
IRVIS develops devices and units that carry out volume accounting (commercial accounting) of non-aggressive combustible and inert gases brought to normal conditions: gas meters, gas flow meters, flow meters, steam meters and others. -
PRODUCTION OF ACCOUNTING UNITS
High accuracy and a wide range of measurements. Stability of metrological characteristics. The ability to work on non-stationary flows. Insensitivity to hydraulic shocks and dirt. Easy installation and easy operation. No moving parts subject to wear. -
PERIPHERAL DEVICES
KIP cabinets, for completing the gas metering unit. Thermoanemometers: measurement of instantaneous local values of the velocity and temperature of non-aggressive combustible and inert gases in scientific and applied research.
